John William Hackett, 72, of Latonia, KY passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida after a brief illness while on vacation with his wife. John was born November 22, 1949, in Atlanta, GA to the late William and Emily (Pirc) Hackett. John's early years were spent in Cleveland, Ohio, and after multiple moves for his father's Army deployments the family settled in Winchester, Kentucky, where John graduated from St. Agatha Academy. John came to Northern Kentucky to attend Thomas More College, where he graduated and then settled. John enjoyed spending time with his family, watching golf, and was an excellent baker. John enjoyed reading and listening to music. John is survived by his loving wife: Kate Goodenough Hackett; step-children: Maura (Jonas) Russell and Zachary (Holly Rudd) Emral; and three granddaughters: Elisabeth, Madelyn, and Ella Rose. John is also survived by his sister: Rosemary (Hackett) Campbell and four sisters-in-law: Ann (Dave) Lewin, Susan (Gary) Thiem, Amy (Barry) Hiles, and Althea Johns (the late Patrick) Goodenough; four brothers-in-law: Michael (Donna) Goodenough, Dan (Christi) Goodenough, Joe Goodenough, and Tom Goodenough; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents: William and Emily; parents-in-law: Daniel and Helen Goodenough; and two brothers-in-law: Patrick Goodenough and George Campbell. John worked in social services most of his career, retiring a few years ago from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and DCBS. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church, 3612 Church Street, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015.
