Obituary

Joan Marie Halfhill, 80, of Florence, KY passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022. She was a member of St. Barbara Church in Erlanger, KY. Joan retired as a Security Analyst for the Treasury Department. During her career with the IRS, she served in many different departments, Document Perfection, Criminal Investigation, Underreporter Branch, Electronic Filing and Security. The latter part of her career she left the IRS and worked for the Treasury Inspector General in a special group who investigated violations of the Privacy Act. To advance her career, she returned to the IRS working for Director Information Systems Service Center Operations, (DISCO). She had the responsibility to ensure that the 10 IRS Processing Sites were all in compliance with the national standards. Joan was a past altar society president at Holy Cross Church in Latonia, KY and a greeter for St. Barbara Church. She was also active in the St. Vincent De Paul Society as a Pantry Princess and president of Kensington Park HOA. Joan was preceded in death by her parents: George and Delores Deitmaring and sisters: Carol Deitmaring Plummer and Arlene Deitmaring. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years: H. Dennis Halfhill; sons: H. Dennis (Chip), Douglas A. and David W. (Celissa) Halfhill; brother: George W. (Marcy) Deitmaring; grandchildren: Haley M. Halfhill, Allison (Chris) Halfhill Henderson, Nathan A. Halfhill, Sophia R. Halfhill and Abigail P. Halfhill and great-grandchildren: Hudson and Harper Henderson. Visitation will take place at St. Barbara Church, 4042 Turkeyfoot Road, Erlanger, KY 41018 on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 8:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Private Entombment: Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright, KY.
