Dennis M. Deye
Covington - Dennis M. Deye, age 79, passed away peacefully Monday May 17, 2021 in his home after a long battle with Alzheimer's. His family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude to Godsend Home Caregivers and Hospice of the Bluegrass Care Navigators for their incredible expertise, care, and compassion. Dennis was preceded in death by his loving wife of 34 years, Carol A. (Paine) Deye (1943 - 2000). He is survived by his five children; Tim Deye (Tammie Klosterman) of Ft. Wright, KY; Shannon Deye of Franklin, TN; Micaela Deye Holbrook (Zach Holbrook) of Ft. Wright, KY; Eric Deye (Christine Bunker) of Columbus, OH; Greg Deye (Bethany Wendt) of San Francisco, CA and 8 grandchildren; Mitchell, Mason, Sasha, Phineas, Pippa, Lucian, Broderick, & Wren. He is also survived by his sister Joan Wurtenberger of Lakeside Park, KY and brother Steve Deye of Cincinnati, OH. Preceding him in death were also his brothers Tom, Jerry, Marty, and his sister Jennifer. Born November 9, 1941 in Covington, Kentucky to Ferdinand and Margaret Deye, Dennis graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1960, and Thomas More College in Lakeside Park, KY where he earned a degree in Business. He married his sweetheart Carol in 1966 and embarked on a more than 30-year career in management with C.G.& E./Duke Energy. Dennis was devoted to his family and will be remembered for his love of contemporary architecture, antiques, gardening, and his self-taught home improvement & woodworking skills. He was the recipient of numerous Ft. Mitchell Garden Club awards and spent many hours as a longtime volunteer fireman with the Ft. Wright, KY Fire Department. He was active in his college fraternity and local civic organizations, often leading fundraising events to benefit the local Northern Kentucky community with the Jaycees. A memorial mass and celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Fort Wright, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials can be made to the Chas. S. Vonderahe Scholarship for high school bound St. Agnes 8th graders at: Ft. Wright Volunteer Fire Department, Chas. S. Vonderahe Memorial Scholarship, 409 Kyles Ln, Ft Wright, KY 41011
