Charlotte June (Hoffmeier) McManama, age 87 of Bellbrook, OH, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. Charlotte was born on February 1, 1934 in Covington, KY to the late Charles (Huckle) Hoffmeier and Helen Hoffmeier (Kieger) (Paul) Haubner. She was preceded in death by son, Gregory Joseph McManama; sister, Ellen Orta; half- brother, Lawrence Haubner; daughter-in-law, Jackie McManama; and great-granddaughter, Josephine Pauline Gregory.
Charlotte is survived by her children: Sherry (Dan) Bayer of Dayton, and Wayne McManama of Erlanger; grandchildren: Sean (Angie) Gregory, Todd (Sarah) Gregory, Ryan (Lee) Gregory, Megan (Bayer) (Andy) Turner, Danny Bayer, Stephanie Buckler, Rachel (Chris) Poole, Gregory Joseph (Stephanie) McManama, Jeffery McManama; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Logan, Mitchell, Savannah, Vivian, Rylee, Mason, Bailey, Logan, Mia, Chris, Lillian, Aiden, Evan & Avery; brother, John Hoffmeier; half-brothers: Danny (Cindy) Haubner, and Paul (Bea) Haubner, Jr.; half-sisters: Barb (Don) Elliott, Rosemary (Joe) Nader, and Carol (Dick) Dunham; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Charlotte attended St. Benedict Grade School and Holmes High School. She worked as a waitress on skates for Frisch’s, then became a dietary aide at St. Elizabeth Hospital, then went back to Frisch’s corporation and worked as a housekeeping maid for 28 years at the Quality Inn Hotel in Covington, KY. After retiring from Frisch’s, Charlotte moved to Bellbrook Ohio where she joined St. Francis of Assisi Church. She worked in a nursing home/rehab center in Bellbrook, and Fazoli’s, then retired at age 75. Charlotte loved playing bingo, bowling, playing cards, swimming, scratching off lottery tickets, and going to Casinos. Charlotte loved to travel with family from Florida to CA, Las Vegas, New York, Canada, and Mexico. Her many vacations to Brunswick, GA was also a favorite spot. She loved to visit the cemetery of her loved ones that passed. In later years she enjoyed just sitting and watching the kids play and take rides in the van anywhere she could go. Life was always joyful to her, so she lived every minute of it to the fullest. May Charlotte Rest in Peace with the Lord. We Miss You Mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
A memorial mass for Charlotte will be Tuesday, May 4, 2021at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45459 at 1:30 p.m. This date is also the birthday of Charlotte’s late son, Gregory J. McManama. Final internment and prayer service will take place Saturday, May 8th, at 1:00 p.m. at Mother of God Cemetery mausoleum, 3125 Madison Ave., Latonia, KY 41015.
