Obituary

Robert "Bob" Charles Merkle, 86, of Crestview Hills, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025. He was a long-time member of St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, KY. Bob was a graduate of Covington Catholic High School and retired from Kroger Manufacturing as a line mechanic. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was also a car enthusiast and enjoyed rebuilding cars with his brother, Al. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Elizabeth Bilz Merkle; loving wife: Shirley M. Merkle and several siblings. Bob is survived by his daughter: Sharon (Joe) Timmers; sister: Rosie (late: Earl) Smith; brother: Al (Pat) Merkle and grandchildren: Melanie (Scott) Burch, Jennifer Timmers and Samantha Timmers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Road, Edgewood, KY 41017. Entombment will take place at the convenience of the family on a later date at Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright, KY.
