Obituary

Donald R.”Donnie” Ernst of Ft. Mitchell, Ky was born into eternal life January 7, 2025 at the age of 88. He is survived by his brother Philip(Shiela) Ernst, niece Kelly, his sister Connie(John) Baugh, nephew John(Stacey) Baugh, niece Heather(Mike) Minnich, niece Shawna Eitel, nephew Dean Ernst, his brother Michael Ernst and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Melva( née Knippa), his wife June Violet Hoosier and brother Richard Ernst. Born and raised in Covington, KY, as a young man Don often travelled with his father around the country following the horse racing industry. He enjoyed getting to visit different tracks and developed a lifelong affection for the sport. Don liked other sports as well. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Bengals and the University of Cincinnati Bearcats- always dressing the part. Don took pride in looking good and will be remembered for his infectious, almost mischievous, smile. He loved music, particularly Frank Sinatra and jazz. He also loved old westerns and an occasional Milky Way candy bar. Don was a devout Roman Catholic and attended mass at Blessed Sacrament regularly. He enjoyed spending time with friends at both Greyhound Tavern and Herb and Thelma’s. There will be a mass of Christian burial in his honor Saturday January 18th at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament.
