Obituary

Hazel Ellen (nee Reed) Neises, 94, of Newtown, formerly of Bellevue, KY, passed away on September 18, 2024. Hazel dedicated her life to her family, nurturing her eight children with her late husband, Roland Neises, with an exceptional blend of love, grace, and devotion. Her primary vocation in life served as a caregiver and guiding light in her home, where her kindness was felt by all. A devout Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart/Divine Mercy Parish, she exemplified selflessness and compassion, touching the lives of all who knew her. Hazel also enjoyed fishing and was a vibrant member of the New England Club, where she forged many cherished friendships. She was preceded in death by her father, James Reed, mother, Harriet Marie (nee Shook) Reed, husband, Roland Neises, son, Russell Neises, and sisters, Donna Hill and Alice Reed. Hazel is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Rob Richardson) Steffen, Donna (Patrick) Donovan, Dianna (Ken) Marshall, Denise (Dave) Carter, sons, Richard Neises, Ronald Neises, Randy Neises, 27 grandchildren, and brothers, Jim Reed, and Jerry Reed. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM at the same location (318 Division St., Bellevue, Kentucky). Burial will take place at Mother of God Cemetery, Covington, Kentucky. Memorials are suggested to Divine Mercy Parish or to Comboni Missionaries.
