Ralph Fred Grome, formerly of Wilder, KY was born on April 14, 1932, in Latonia, KY. to Carl and Ida (Wiegand) Grome. He passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood, KY. A devoted husband, father, and veteran, Ralph cherished his family above all else. He was married to Carol Rose (Kohake) Grome, who preceded him in death on February 14, 2016.
Together, they raised and Ralph is survived by five children: Tony Grome, Terri ( Jim) Grome Eckerle, Tina Grome, Timmy Grome, and Tammy Grome, 4 grandchildren, Jessica ( Justin), Collin (Mindy), Ellie, Anna, and 2 Great-grandchildren Lola, Spartacus and another little girl coming in October, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love and dedication. Ralph is also survived by his brother, James (Pauline) Grome and many nieces and nephews who remember him as a honorable, dedicated, loving, and funny man. He often said "Thank you" instead of "I love you" a phrase that resonates with those who knew him, highlighting his deep appreciation for the people in his life.
Ralph served honorably in the Korean War, a testament to his commitment to his country. After his service, he became part owner of E.C. Shaw, where he shared his artistic talents for over sixty years. Known for his hardworking nature, Ralph was also skilled in home repairs, ensuring that his family always had a safe and loving environment.
Ralph was not only a loving father but a man of deep faith. He was an active member of his community, serving as an usher at Saint Therese Church and dedicating much of his time to his spiritual life. His faith was a guiding force in his life as he believed in reuniting with his beloved Carol in heaven and instilled the same values in his children.
In his leisure time, Ralph enjoyed camping with his family and bowling, often sharing laughter and joy with those he loved. He also had a fondness for Carol’s spaghetti and was known for listening to his favorite radio station that broadcasted the rosary and live mass. Ralph had a loyal companion in his dog, Rusty, who brought him much comfort and joy.
Ralph’s impact on the lives of others is immeasurable, as he always put his family first and dedicated his life to their well-being. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering love and the cherished memories he created with his family and friends. God bless you, Ralph.
Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2024 from 10:00 am-11:00 am at St. Therese Church, Southgate, Kentucky with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Grady as Celebrant. Burial will be at Mother of God Cemetery, Latonia with Military honors.
